🎶 The playlist behind the pages
Jul 29, 2025
Hello Darlings!
With two launches over the last 6 months, and even more in-person author events, you’d think I’d get used to the level of support you all show up with. Alas, I’m still completely blown away with gratitude once again.
Every time I walk into an event or open a message from one of you, I’m reminded that this story doesn’t belong to me anymore. It belongs to you, and your reaction to it means everything.
If you’ve listened to the Calling It Off audiobook, you already know that this version hits differently. I’ve heard from so many of you that hearing the story in my voice made it feel more personal and intimate, like a conversation between friends. Whether you listened on a long drive, during your morning walk, or while folding yet another basket of laundry, I’m so grateful to be in your ears.
If you haven’t listened on Audible yet, now’s the perfect chance. Let’s soak up these last few weeks of summer together, one chapter at a time.
And just in case you’re craving something a little more musical today, I pulled together a Spotify playlist of the songs I wove into Calling It Off.
Some of the titles are directly quoted, some quietly inspired a scene, and others just helped me make sense of what I was feeling in the moment. Some I almost included, but in the end, they felt a little forced.
A few tracks bring back the exact scent of my college dorm room, like Jamie Foxx’s Blame It. Oh, the pre-gaming memories of wearing jeans and a “going out top.” A few belong in a classic rom-com montage, like Keith Urban’s Somebody Like You.
And some, like Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, still make me cry, because they remind me how far I’ve come and how lucky I am to love the man I married.
These songs don’t just set the mood. They trace the emotional arc of my story, from heartbreak and healing, to resilience and courage, and the joy that follows choosing yourself.
It’s funny how songs can anchor an emotion so deeply.
This mental playlist carried me through the writing process. Now it’s yours, and I hope it brings you a little joy of your own. You deserve it.
With much love,
Katherine Rose Woller
P.S. A quick reminder for my Denver friends…I’ll be at Tattered Cover Book Store’s Colfax Location on August 7th! I’ll be chatting with my publisher at Landon Hail Press, Samantha Joy, signing books and sharing a few behind-the-scenes stories, and I would love to give you a hug in person.
P.P.S. And if you haven’t had enough of my voice just yet…
I recently joined Paige Killian on her podcast to talk about bold decisions, trusting yourself, and the beautiful mess of starting over. Give it a listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts if you’re in the mood for some honest conversation.
