Stepping into my new era as a Mom/Author

Mar 03, 2025

We’re officially one month out from the launch of Calling It Off and I feel like I can finally catch my breath.

Not everything went precisely to plan–it never does–but alas, we made it and it went pretty dang splendidly. With a giant sigh of relief, I’m finally internalizing that the book is out there in the world, hopefully bringing enjoyment, courage and hope to those that read it.

As I’m stepping into my new era as a Mom/Author, I’ve had to take some time to rebalance my days. Out of necessity, I sometimes showed up last month as an Author/Mom, which for me was out of order. There is still endless work that remains on the book front, but these days, as I spend more and more time in my Mom/writer role, I’m not letting the other parts of me vanish.

I’m still Mom, followed closely by Author, and I love it. But my /Wellness Girlie self is back to her workouts, and my /Book Nerd is rejoicing in solo reading time on a sunny afternoon.

Some days I’m still mostly Mom/Chef, and often I feel like a Mom/Maid. Yet overall, I feel like I'm recalibrating back to the full me, just with one more core pillar in the mix.

And you know what… I’m far more effective, fulfilled and content in all roles because of it.

Looking forward, I am determined to maintain this balance, but I’m also so stinking excited to dive into my next big lifts for the book!

What are those future goals you ask?

Well, I want to finagle my way into some local indies!

Some of my most central memories of childhood occurred in my local book shop, Full Circle Bookstore in Oklahoma City, OK. Full Circle was and is one of my all time favorites, and I can still remember the warm, time-warpy, and excited tingling that would rush through my whole body when we walked in its doors.

I’ve since found that same feeling in the aisles of Tattered Cover in Denver, Explore Booksellers in Aspen, and Boulder Books, to name a few.

As a passionate supporter of independent bookstores, I know how vital they are to their communities, and I would be honored to grace their shelves.

So, if you have a favorite local bookstore near you, please send me the name of it and I will see what I can do!

Who knows, maybe we will even end up with a fun signing or event there. Yes, I dream big. And yes, Rose will come along for the ride as this Mom/Author journey continues.

Until then, be well all!

With much love,

Katherine Rose Woller
