Fall: The season when I feel everything deeply
Sep 30, 2025
Fall has always been my season.
The weather gets crispier, the days get shorter, and I get to cocoon with a cup of tea and the coziest of ratty, old sweatpants.
But lately, I’ve also realized it’s the season when I feel everything deeply.
On the beautiful side, the urge to socialize decreases, and it’s all about creating magical moments at home with my family. Fresh-baked pumpkin cinnamon rolls. Steamy local cider topped with cinnamon. Rose’s first bite of tart cherry-pie, which admittedly she didn’t love, but hey, it’s a start! It’s the warm hug of home that I cherish the most.
Yet it’s not all sweet treats and cozy moments, as autumn also stirs something deeper that summer never does. Maybe it’s the approach of the spooky season, or the darkness of the mornings when the house is still quiet, save for my Hozier playlist on repeat, but I feel it all so much more acutely these days.
And when these emotional swells do come, I lean on two tools to anchor and ground me–meditation and journaling. They may not be glamorous, but they’re life-saving.
Which brings me to a practice I stumbled into two years ago when I listened to a manifestation podcast called Expanded. After devouring episode after episode, I quickly signed up for their guided meditation practice, To Be Magnetic. They call it a modern guide to holistic living and neural manifestation, and while I certainly make the practice my own, I’m an avid TBM’er.
Yesterday, in the midst of an emotional surge, I stumbled upon an exercise that challenged me to do something incredibly difficult. Embody my worthiness.
Sounds easy enough, right? Not exactly. The prompts asked things like, what energy do you bring into a space? Who are you at your core? And perhaps most confronting of all, do you recognize your impact?
All phenomenal questions. All thought-provoking. Illuminating, too, when I journaled my responses to these and others, and then stepped back to take an honest look at where I am sourcing my worth. Or rather, sometimes, where I fail to recognize it entirely.
Yes, that’s a bit heady for a Tuesday afternoon, but I don’t view that as a bad thing.
Instead, I’m grateful for the opportunity to see myself more clearly, let the negatives fall away like the rapidly changing leaves on the trees, and then lean into the amazing qualities that I wrote down as well. Those are my core, my inherent worthiness.
So, how would you answer the questions?
Would you like what you wrote?
Your answers might surprise you.
Whether it’s an exercise like those in TBM, free journaling, or just a thoughtful walk, I encourage you to take this phase to go inward. Embrace the feeling of fall, of stripping away, of making space.
Use the heightened emotions to deepen your relationship with self, build your courage, and ultimately make the most aligned decisions for your life, no matter the season.
Remember, fall’s duality is a blessing.
So, appreciate the comfort of home and the opportunity of impending change in equal measure.
With much love,
Katherine Rose Woller
